The Kromme Descent is back for its 12th edition, firmly cemented as a highlight on South Africa’s national swim calendar.

This iconic two-day stage race takes place on the pristine Kromme River in the Eastern Cape. As South Africa’s only stage race swim, the event starts in the breathtaking upper reaches of the river and finishes in the lively canals of St Francis Bay. It’s a demanding challenge—and a rare opportunity to swim the full length of this beautiful river.
The Kromme Descent is a team event, with two swimmers per team, competing in Male, Female, and Mixed categories. All participants must be 18 years or older. Entries are limited, so early booking is essential.
Teamwork is everything: the clock only stops when the second team member crosses the finish line.

- Dates: 6–7 June 2026
- Distance: Approximately 13km downstream
- Format: Two-day stage race
Entry Fees (per team)
- Early Entry: R2400 (1 November 2025 – 15 January 2026)
- Standard Entry: R2700 (16 January 2026 – 10 May 2026)
- Late Entry: R2700 (11 May 2026 – 1 June 2026)
(Late entries do not include t-shirts; these can be ordered separately at own cost.)
Meals Included
- Day 1 (6th): Lunch plus limited beer/cider for swimmers at the finish
- Day 2 (7th): Lunch plus limited beer/cider at prize-giving
- Both days: Fruit, rusks, and coffee/tea at the start. Recovery drinks at finish.
Please note: Accommodation is not included.
